Personally embroidered portraits

These portraits are created from photographs. I use a combination of machine and hand stitch and found fabrics. The fabrics used are often fragments of the subjects own discarded clothing. 

As an example I have shown the original photo next to the embroidered piece. This piece was selected as a finalist in the judging for the National Art and Craft Awards at the RDS in 2012.

'CataLOG'

2013 size approx 16"x16"x16"

CataLOG is a representation of clothes that I have worn throughout my life. Each of the 42 layers are interspersed with a layer of cotton scrim. 

Previous commissions have included 40th and 50th birthday gifts that have been personally created for each recipient.
